Before Your Visit
Here are some things you may want to do before the big day when you'll
visit our Family Birth Center.
Pre-Registration
We suggest that you pre-register for hospital admission by your eighth
month of pregnancy. Pre-registering for hospital admission may save you
the discomfort of answering many questions when you are in actual labor
and might be uncomfortable.
Classes
For information on prenatal classes and registration, call (559) 624-6012.
It is advisable to sign up for classes by your fifth or sixth month of
pregnancy. Classes are generally taken so that you complete them 5-6 weeks
before your due date. Some of our classes are only offered every other month.

Before you visit, we encourage you to get to know more about Kaweah Delta's

House Rules
Just like any home, things run a little better with some structure and
rules. Here are some of our rules. We ask that you observe them for the
comfort and safety of everyone.
- Cell phones may not be used in patient care areas. This includes patient
rooms and the hallways. Cell phones can interfere with patient equipment
and may cause harm to mom or baby.
- In accordance with the recommendations of the American College of Obstetricians
and Gynecologists, it is Kaweah Delta's policy that photography and
video recording is prohibited during delivery until the newborn is deemed
stable by the physician.
- In accordance with the recommendations of the American College of Obstetricians
and Gynecologists, we do not permit videotaping of the baby's birth.
Still pictures may be taken. After the Doctor judges both mom and baby
“stable” you may videotape. This will only take a few minutes.
- During your delivery your visitors are welcome to wait in the Family Birth
Center lobby. State fire regulations prohibit visitors from waiting in
the hallway.
- We observe the “golden hour” of bonding after birth. Baby will
be “skin to skin” with mom (or dad) and the new parents need
some time to bond with their new baby. The initial breastfeeding latch
often occurs in the first hour after birth.
