Kaweah Delta Names Vice President of Strategic Planning/Business Development
VISALIA – Kaweah Delta has a new Vice President of Strategic Planning
and Business Development.
After an extensive national search, Marc Mertz, a healthcare executive
with more than 20 years of experience, has been selected to serve in this
leadership position. He is responsible for establishing growth opportunities
to help the District provide comprehensive health services to the greater
Visalia region and Tulare County.
“It is unusual to see a hospital in a community of this size providing
the scope of services and quality of care that Kaweah Delta does. The
physicians and employees do amazing work every day. At the same time,
the onus is on us to always do better and improve,” Mertz said.
“There are a lot of great things in place with various partnerships,
groups and providers. I am excited to be a part of the team that will
continue to look for new ways to benefit this community.”
Mertz has a Master of Health Administration from the University of Southern
California and a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration
from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He is also a
fellow of the Medical Group Management Association’s (MGMA) American
College of Medical Practice Executives.
Mertz comes to Kaweah Delta from GE Healthcare Partners, previously The
Camden Group, a large healthcare consulting and advisory firm. He joined
the firm in 2008, and since 2012, served GE Healthcare as Vice President
and national Physician Services Practice Leader. He is also a published
author and regular speaker at national conferences.
The road to Tulare County was not a long one for Mertz. Although he lived
in Los Angeles, he traveled weekly for work – his work travels even
took him to Saudi Arabia last year – so he would seek refuge in
Three Rivers. There Mertz and his wife Melissa had purchased a home and
were near family. Recently, Melissa completed her nurse practitioner program,
so the couple decided the time was right for a move. She now works at
Family HealthCare Network.
“We’re very excited to be here and to be a part of this community.
It’s exactly where we wanted to be,” he said.
