Kaweah Delta set to host 1,000th helipad landing event on August 25
VISALIA, CA – Kaweah Delta Health Care District will host an event
on Friday, August 25, to celebrate the helipad’s 1,000th landing and thank the community partnerships that made it a life-saving reality.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. underneath the helipad, which is located
on the north side of the Kaweah Delta Medical Center parking lot off Mineral
King Avenue and Locust Street (attendees are asked to use the Willow Parking
Garage on Locust Street). The event will feature a short program and tours
of the helipad.
The helipad became operational in 2013, thanks to $2.3 million in donations
to Kaweah Delta Hospital Foundation and a sponsorship by First 5 Tulare
County funded by Proposition 10. Donations were from throughout the community
and included Kaweah Delta staff members. To date, the helipad has greatly
benefited the community, said Dena Cochran, Vice President of Development
at Kaweah Delta. The Foundation raises funds to help Kaweah Delta provide
the highest level of care to our community.
With the helipad, a person who is traumatically injured in Springville
can land at Kaweah Delta in just 12 minutes. A newborn in need of a higher
level of care can be at Valley Children’s Hospital in just 18 minutes
or Stanford Medical Center in 69 minutes.
