Kaweah Delta Partners With Donor Network West To Register Organ Donors
VISALIA – Kaweah Delta Health Care District is partnering with Donor
Network West to increase the number of registered organ and tissue donors
in Tulare County.
During the month of April, Donor Awareness Month, there will be four events
in Tulare County to provide information to people on how to become donors.
Additionally, Kaweah Delta will provide education on the importance of
having an advance directive. An advance directive is a document with special
instructions, prepared in advance, that lets a person have a say about
medical treatment in the event they get very sick and are unable to communicate.
The following events will take place in April:
- April 20: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kaweah Delta South Campus Cafeteria, 1633
S. Court St., Visalia
- April 21: 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Kaweah Delta Medical Center, 400 W. Mineral
King Ave., Visalia
- April 22: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Exeter Health Clinic, Main Lobby, 1014 San
Juan Ave., Exeter
- April 28: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Hospital, 840 S.
Akers St., Visalia
One organ donor can save the lives of up to eight people and a tissue donor
can heal more than 50 others. Anyone can register as a donor at DonorNetworkWest.org
or at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Donor Network West is the organ
procurement organization that saves and heals lives through organ and
tissue donation in northern California and Nevada, Of the 22,600 people
waiting for a life-saving transplant in California and Nevada, 10,600
or 47% wait in Donor Network West’s service area.
