Susan Giampietro has always enjoyed the outdoors and family-time. During the pandemic, she actively took walks with her husband to get fresh air and watch the sunset, until she suffered a fall in the summer of 2020. She caught her fall with her right hand, causing severe damage which resulted in immediate surgery and hand therapy. The hardest part of her recovery process was acceptance.

“What I found very memorable was how afraid she was to move, and she didn’t even want to look at her scar,” said Thao Thai, Occupational Therapist at Therapy Specialists.

Through hand therapy and Thao’s guidance, Susan worked to heal her hand and overcome her fears. Today, she enjoys life to the fullest and lives with confidence.
