Kaweah Health launches website report to provide public with local COVID-19 information

VISALIA – Kaweah Health has launched a new dashboard on its website to provide Tulare County residents with relevant and timely information and the most up-to-date numbers on everything from COVID-19 positive patients, employees, specimen collections and more. This new feature will be updated daily, Monday through Friday, at www.kaweahdelta.org/covid19.

“During times of uncertainty, information can be very powerful. We want this information to be available to community members to answer questions they might have and make better-informed decisions,” said Gary Herbst, Kaweah Health's Chief Executive Officer. “We are working very hard to provide our team and our community with information that is relevant, meaningful, and timely. We are committed to transparency.”

Developed by Kaweah Health's Infection Prevention Department, this snapshot succinctly summarizes Kaweah Health's COVID-19 efforts with the most up-to-date numbers available on:

• Specimen collection
• Positive patients
• Positive employees (returned to work and hospitalized)
• Ventilators
• Statewide cases
• Tulare County cases

“In healthcare, we know that each of the numbers on this report represents an individual, a family member, a colleague, a neighbor, or a loved one. We should honor those who have been lost, celebrate those who have recovered, and care for those who are sick,” Herbst said. “Each of us can honor our community by acknowledging that we all have a part to play to stop the spread of COVID-19. We all still need to remain vigilant in our efforts to protect ourselves, and our community.”

Kaweah Health shares COVID-19 information and regular updates with the community on its website at www.kaweahdelta.org/COVID19 and on its social media accounts.

The Public Health Branch asks community members to follow the governor’s stay-at-home order to “flatten the curve” and slow the spread of COVID-19. This, and social distancing when you must go out for essential services such as grocery shopping, is the best way to avoid COVID-19. Cloth or other facemasks and coverings may help to reduce COVID-19 transmission by those who may be infected but are not showing symptoms yet. Even with the addition of a facemask, community members need to remain six feet or more away from others when out for essential services.

Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency advises if you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or difficulty breathing, please call your primary physician or 2-1-1 rather than walking into a medical office or hospital. Your physician will connect with Tulare County Public Health to determine if testing is appropriate.
