Kaweah Delta To Host Dec. 30 Blood Drive
VISALIA – Kaweah Delta Health Care District is hosting its annual
winter blood drive for the Central California Blood Center on Friday,
Dec. 30, in Visalia.
The blood drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the Blue
Room (basement) of Kaweah Delta Medical Center, 400 W. Mineral King Ave.
Everyone who donates blood will receive a free travel mug and be entered
into an opportunity drawing for a $100 Visa/Mastercard cash gift card
(one entry per donor).
Currently, the blood center is experiencing a blood shortage and is in
particular need of the following blood types: O neg, O pos, A neg, B neg
or AB neg. The drive will feature the latest technology to simplify the
blood donor screening process. The electronic donor registration system
is a fast and precise way to help donors through the Central California
Blood Center’s pre-screening process and replaces the donor forms
used in the past.
Blood donation takes less than one hour to complete. Donors must be in
good general health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be at least 17
years old (16 years old with written parental consent). Senior citizens
are encouraged to donate, as there is no upper age limit. Donors should
eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within 4 hours prior to their
donation. Donors can give blood every eight weeks. Photo ID and Social
Security Number are required at donor registration. For more information
on blood donation requirements, visit
www.donateblood.org. To RSVP for this drive, please call: 624-5283.
