
New Graduate Residency Program for Registered Nurses
The Registered Nurse Residency Program is centered on the support and development
of the professional nurse, focusing on the transition from academia to
acute care practice. Our year-long program combines practical and applied
clinical experiences with comprehensive didactic learning. This support
is in addition to the traditional unit/department orientation. At KDHCD
we want our new nurses to flourish! Participants will gain many new experiences,
skills, and resources to help them grow as a professional.
This program will focus on:
• Clinical Decision skills
• Communication skills
• Professional development
• Exposure to the hospital
• Support of practice at the bedside - safety and time management
• Exposure to experiences within chosen service line
• Resource development
During this program participants will meet monthly with the Residency Program
Coordinator and special expert guests from Kaweah Delta for:
• Case studies
• Across the care continuum experiences
• Presentations
• Clinical simulation/skills training
• Learning through discussion and reflection on actual practice
Requires:
• California RN license or RN IP
• Less than 1 year experience as an RN
