In 2008, Kaweah Delta District Hospital received a three million dollar grant from First 5 Tulare County to expand specialty care for Tulare County children. The grant cycle is three years ending in December 2011. The specialties identified as most in demand were Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Behavioral and Developmental Disorders. The district has recruited Pediatric Gastroenterologist Dr. Roberto Gugig, and Pediatric Behavioral and Developmental Disorders Dr. Desiree Rodgers. Dr. Gugig joined the practice in January 2010, and Dr. Rodgers is scheduled to start in July 2010. The district is currently recruiting a Pediatric Endocrinologist.
