Welcome to Kaweah Delta’s Family Birth Center!
Our Family Birth Center offers you a home-like setting for your baby’s birth with both comfort and privacy. All our labor, delivery and postpartum rooms are private rooms.
For information on prenatal classes and registration check our website or call our class center phone number 1-877-Kaweah1 or 1877-529-3241 . It is advisable to sign up for classes by your 5th or 6th month of pregnancy. Classes are generally taken so that you complete them 5-6 weeks before your due date. Some of our classes are only offered every other month.

Just like any home, things run a little better with some structure and rules. Here are some of our rules. We ask that you observe them for the comfort and safety of everyone.
- Cell phones may not be used in patient care areas. This includes patient rooms and the hallways. Cell phones can interfere with patient equipment and may cause harm to mom or baby.
- Please limit your visitors to three during labor and delivery. Labor is not a time when women are very social. If an emergency occurs, a crowded room makes it difficult for the staff to move as quickly as they need to.
- In accordance with the recommendations of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, we do not permit videotaping of the baby’s birth. Still pictures may be taken. After the Doctor judges both mom and baby “stable” you may videotape. This will only take a few minutes.
- During your delivery your visitors are welcome to wait in the Family Birth Center lobby. State fire regulations prohibit visitors from waiting in the hallway.
- We observe the “golden hour” of bonding after birth. Baby will be “skin to skin” with mom (or dad) and the new parents need some time to bond with their new baby. The initial breastfeeding latch often occurs in the first hour after birth also.
- Pre-registration for hospital admission may save you the discomfort of answering many questions when you are in actual labor and might be uncomfortable. It is advisable to pre-register for hospital admission by your 8th month of pregnancy.
- All infants discharged from Kaweah Delta must be in a federally approved car seat per California law.
* Visiting hours for Labor & Delivery and Mother Baby units are 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM * Visiting hours for the NICU are 5:00 AM - 7:00 PM
