Hospital Guild Outstanding in Giving Money and Time

Posted Date: 7/28/2008

Giving money away makes people feel great, helping others makes people feel needed, making blankets for babies warms a person’s heart, and giving people direction helps a person feel important. Where do you find all these emotions in one job title—Kaweah Delta Hospital Guild Volunteer. It takes hundreds of volunteers to do all the work that is done by the Hospital Guild. And they are looking for more outstanding pillars of the community just like themselves. It is not a job that pays you in money, it is a job that pays you in joy! According to Mary Alice Johnson, who joined the Guild in 1995, “it is the one place that lets me stay active and help people all at the same time.”

The Kaweah Delta Health Care District Guild starting in 1956 and has to date purchased $1.333,547.58 worth of patient care equipment and services. This past year the Guild raised and donated to the hospital $110,905.48 in patient care equipment and services and gave 22,085 hours of service. You need to meet Giuliana Pasquini to understand service above self. Giuliana donated 1358 volunteer hours in the past year, WOW!

Why do men and women care so much and give so much of their time? “It is because they get so much back, and where else would you get to be involved in so many projects and activities and help so many people all in one place”, states Donna Graves, Past-President of the Guild.

The new North Expansion is about to open early next year and we will be needing more volunteers to help in our Discharge of Patients and to help in our small Gift Shop that will open with the new facility,” states volunteer coordinator Lorraine Clark. It is her goal to find at least 10 special people to become volunteers before the opening of the North Expansion.
