Sibling Visitation Policy Modified

Posted Date: 4/29/2010

Today, Kaweah Delta modified the no-children visiting policy to provide for the visitation of siblings with the mother and new baby in the Mother Baby Unit in the Acequia Wing. With further input from the Medical staff and the community, effective immediately Kaweah Delta will begin to allow siblings to visit the mom and new baby during the regular visiting hours of 8 am to 9 pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult when coming into the hospital and they are only allowed to visit mother once she and the baby are in the Mother Baby Unit on the third floor of the Acequia Wing. Parents will be responsible for monitoring the health status of their children before they visit mom and the newborn,” states Linda Pruett, Vice President and chief nursing officer for Kaweah Delta. “It is still the goal of the hospital to provide a safe, quiet and therapeutic environment for families to thrive.” The hospital visiting policy for the flu and RSV season will remain in effect. During the months of September though April, visitation for all children under the age of 12 years is restricted, including siblings.

Public parking is available in the Acequia parking structure across the street just south of the Acequia Wing Entrance. Since children will only be allowed entrance through the Acequia Wing lobby, parking in the structure will be convenient for visitors.
