National Biomedical/Clinical Engineering Appreciation Week

Posted Date: 5/11/2009

The biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs) and Clinical Engineers of Kaweah Delta Health Care District will join medical technology professionals from across the country in observing National Biomedical/Clinical Engineering Appreciation Week, May 10–16, 2009. This annual celebration is sponsored by the Technology Management Council (TMC) of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).

These healthcare professionals are responsible for servicing and maintaining medical technology for hospitals and other healthcare facilities, manufacturers, and third-party service organizations around the world. Skilled technicians help acquire, install, use, maintain, and train healthcare personnel on cutting-edge medical technology. They also support medical staff in the use of the technology.

For the second straight year, the BMET field has been rated a top career by U.S. News & World Report.
