Posted Date: 12/4/2008

CARF International announced today that Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Hospital has been accredited for a period of three years for its inpatient rehabilitation program. The latest accreditation is the sixth consecutive Three-Year Accreditation that the international accrediting body has awarded to Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Hospital.

This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a three-year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that is programs and services are of the highest quality measurable, and accountable. Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Hospital was awarded 11 instances of “exemplary” conformance to the rigorous accreditation standards.

The surveyors praised the state of the art facility and equipment, which provide an “excellent, welcoming environment for persons served to work on regaining their optimal functional status”. Care is provided in an environment with a strong commitment to patient education and achievement of the best possible rehabilitation outcomes. The survey team observed a work environment of enthusiastic staff with a strong commitment to providing excellent rehabilitation care. It was clear that the nurses and therapists receive ongoing professional training in order to develop and maintain state of the art clinical skills.

Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Hospital is a division of Kaweah Delta Health Care District, and is located at 840 S Akers Road in Visalia. The program has provided rehabilitation services to Tulare, Kings, Kern and Fresno counties since 1989. Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Hospital serves adults who have experienced strokes, spinal cord injuries, head injuries, cardiac surgery, amputation, multiple trauma, and orthopedic conditions. Year after year, Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Hospital returns a higher percentage of patients successfully to their home environment than other rehabilitation programs both at the regional and national level.
