Kaweah Delta Hospital Guild is celebrating its 50th Anniversary of volunteering; this Guild began in the year of 1956 by Kay Fleming. To date, the Guild has purchased $1,149,138.71 worth of patient care equipment. More impressive are the 1,084,280 service hours worked which translates to a savings of $4,135,446.80 to our hospital and our community.
The Guild is an important part of the hospital’s team. Guild volunteers serve in the surgery waiting room, the intensive care unit, discharge service, hemodialysis, and the book cart. In addition, a committed group of volunteers who call themselves "Pillow Pals" cut embroider, sew and stuff pillows for little children who come to the emergency room and other areas. Oncology and Rehabilitation volunteers make lap robes, caps and pillows for these areas. They also make quilts for the comfort of patients.
The Guild Courtyard is our beautiful gift shop located in the hospital’s main lobby. It's operated solely by Guild volunteers and is a wonderful place to shop. It’s open to visitors, patients and hospital employees. Flowers, candy, magazines, cards and lovely gift items are sold. Visitors may call in a phone order for flowers and the arrangements will be delivered directly to a patient's rooms at the caller's request. The phone number is (559) 624-2217.
