Why did you choose FM?

No other specialty gives you as much freedom to choose how you want to practice. As a family physician, you can practice as a hospitalist, deliver babies, do rural full-spectrum medicine, urgent care, etc. And you have the freedom to change how you practice over time. My goal is to keep patients healthy, rather than reacting when they get sick; I want to get to know my patients over time and become an integral part of their lives and in many cases to develop authentic and close relationships with them. I see patients as not only requiring a healing of their physical illness but also the sustenance of their spirit, a deep appreciation of their intelligence, and a profound respect for their personality.

Why Kaweah Delta?
I chose Kaweah Delta because of the unique opportunity to help build a new program for Family Medicine and to help the underserved community here in Visalia. Everyone here from the nursing staff to the faculty are so friendly and they genuinely care about our education. There is a lot of pathology here in the Central Valley, sometimes I’m surprised to see medical diagnoses you would typically only see in textbooks. It definitely keeps you on your feet!

Hobbies/Family
I’m originally from Sacramento, luckily I’m not too far away so I don’t miss out on too many family events. I love to cook - my friends and I are known to have our own at home version of Iron Chef. I love to binge read everything and anything which can get pretty dangerous at times. When I’m not at the hospital, I’m usually hanging out with my roommate,  watching a movie, working out or catching up on much needed sleep.
