Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia, CA is a busy, 400+
bed, Level III (soon to be Level II) Trauma Center, community hospital
academically affiliated with the University of California, Irvine School of
Medicine. We have over 450 physicians on
staff. We are a public hospital in a
federally designated underserved area that provides patient –centered care to a
widely divergent mix of patients.
We have strong residency programs in Emergency Medicine,
General Surgery, Psychiatry, Family Medicine and a one year Transitional Year
Program. Our residency in Anesthesiology
will start in 2017. Their success is due
to a dedicated faculty that improves their programs continuously, frequently based
on resident input. We also provide an outstanding educational experience to
medical students performing clerkships in both core and elective rotations in a
wide variety of medical and surgical specialties.
Medical students who elect to perform their clerkships here
will benefit from the diverse patient population. Our faculty is motivated to
teach and there is more one on one time with attending physicians then traditional
academic centers. This translates to
more practical, useable knowledge acquired at the bedside to prepare you for
your residency. Our medical center has
been recently renovated and has a new medical library, a new advanced
Simulation lab, and cutting edge technology with a user friendly EMR.
Visalia is located in the heart of California’s central
valley, approximately midway between Fresno and Bakersfield. We are a safe community with a low cost of
living. In addition to the many outdoor activities,
we are also within easy driving distance for trips to Yosemite National Park,
the Central California Coast, Mineral King National Park and the Sequoia
We look forward to providing you a great learning experience!
