The
pulmonary rehabilitation program provides the patient and family with
information and support to meet the day-to-day challenges of living with a chronic
lung disorder. Individualized treatment plans are designed to improve quality
of life by increasing the participant's ability to complete every day
activities, decrease anxiety and depression, reduce complications and
hospitalizations and reinforce proper use of medication. Each session includes
both education and exercise. The pulmonary rehabilitation team includes:
physical therapists, registered nurses, occupational therapists, respiratory
therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, and physicians.

After completing pulmonary rehabilitation, patients are strongly encouraged
to continue with Breathing Easy classes at The Lifestyle Center if possible,
but most importantly to continue with exercises learned in their classes.
Breathing Easy Classes are offered Monday and Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at The
Lifestyle Center, 5105 W. Cypress Ave. Information: 624-3400 or visit
www.thelifestylecenter.org. These
classes are also available to appropriate individuals who have not attended the
pulmonary rehabilitation program.
