What
is Lymphedema?
It's
an abnormal accumulation of protein rich fluid that often makes a person's
arms, legs, neck or trunk swell. It can happen at birth or early in life even
when a person has suffered no injury. It occurs most frequently as a result of
cancer treatment, especially if lymph nodes have been removed or a person's had
radiation treatment.
Kaweah Delta provides a comprehensive, individualized lymphedema treatment
program at Kaweah Delta's Neuro Outpatient Clinic. This program is offered in
both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our certified Lymphedema Specialists
are skilled to reduce swelling. This is a holistic, cost-effective service that
complements other rehabilitation services and enhances a person's quality of
life.
