The brain injury program is a comprehensive program which includes both
inpatient and outpatient care. The focus of the program is to help the patient
relearn basic skills, such as walking and talking. The goal is to improve their
ability to function at home and in the community. Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation
Hospital treats both non-traumatic and traumatic brain injuries.
Non-traumatic brain injury means that the brain has been damaged by
an illness (brain tumor, hypoxic episode, infection, etc.)
Traumatic brain injury is usually the result of an accident (car
crash, fall, assault, etc.)
The program teaches:

how to relearn or improve skills to perform activities of daily living
(bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.)
- Problem
solving, decision-making, memory, and communication skills
