General
Tulare County residents who are having trouble
sleeping or know someone who has a sleep disorder are invited to attend Kaweah
Delta’s A.W.A.K.E support group on Monday, March 25, in Visalia.
The free support group is called A.W.A.K.E. because it helps
people stay alert, well and keep energetic. Eric Altamirano, manager of the Kaweah Delta Sleep Disorders
Center will discuss diagnostic sleep testing and provide a tour of the sleep
center. The support group will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. inside the Acequia
Wing Conference Room (first floor of Kaweah Delta Medical Center) at Acequia
Avenue and Floral Street.
Approximately 40 million people in the U.S. are
diagnosed with sleep disorders each year. The long-term effects of a sleep
disorder can be serious and include heart attack, diabetes, stroke, high blood
pressure and more. Located at 126 S. Floral St., Kaweah Delta’s Sleep Disorders
Center is an eight-room center staffed with board-registered technologists who
conduct sleep studies in a home-like setting. All tests are interpreted by
physicians who are board certified in sleep medicine.
